The year is 1973. The Yom Kippur War breaks out as a complete surprise and finds the IDF unprepared both in the front line and in the emergency warehouses in the rear. One of the critical shortages is a lack of trucks and transport vehicles which makes it very difficult for efforts to bring reinforcements and supplies to the fighting forces at the front
. In those days, at the head of the Kalmobil group, he heard about the plight and mobilized immediately to try and help.

He hurriedly travels to Germany and reports to the management offices of the Mercedes company with an unusual request in his mouth: "Please send all the stock of trucks you have to Israel immediately!"
The request finds the Mercedes management stunned: "The franchisee from the small Israeli market requests that we postpone the delivery of trucks to long-standing and large customers and that we immediately transfer the entire stock of trucks to him?!" But for the management of Mercedes Amichai Haralf, he is no longer a franchisee. They have known him well for 10 years since he won the franchise to import Mercedes cars to Israel. During these years he managed to build a reputation as a leading franchisee, with initiative and vision: a few years earlier Harel surprised them." F. when he initiated and designed a dedicated model for a 7-seater Mercedes taxi, which was developed by Kalmomobil in Israel. The model was very successful, was adopted by the Mercedes management and sold all over the world.
The great appreciation and complete trust that the Mercedes management placed in Kalmoville and its leader have proven themselves. Mercedes decided to comply with the unusual request, and in an unusual move collected all the truck inventory that was in the company's warehouses all over Europe, and sent it immediately to Israel. 1,625 trucks arrived in Israel in the emergency shipment and immediately entered the service of the IDF for the purpose of transferring ammunition, supplies, and equipment to the fighting forces
