Selene Therapeutics

Selene Therapeutics is working to create a new approach to treating refractory epilepsy through the adjustment of the neuronal activity set point by decreasing the mean firing rate (MFR) of neurons. The proposed method involves the use of small molecule inhibitors of Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH), an enzyme found in the inner mitochondrial membrane that is involved in many cell homeostatic functions. Selene is looking to make a breakthrough in the treatment of refractory epilepsy.
